The strandSURF.com surf report is usually completed in the morning so please take into consideration that weather conditions can change in a short period of time. If we are in a period of heightened activity we will make an effort to have more than one report a day. In this report we measure wave height assuming that a surfer is standing on the board. Example: If the report is calling wave height to be Chest High that would mean that the front of the wave (not the back) is about 4 feet high in the face. Most reports will indicate the location, if not just assume it's in the Garden City area.

Nice surfline gallery of the USA surf team. I'm going on record now and saying that Nick Rupp is the next phenom to come out of the east coast. Lots of kids surf great, but very few have that competitive drive and contest smarts to go with it. This kid is a contest surfing machine and he basically wins everything he enters. This kid has snagged some of the most ridiculous waves ever caught on film(in the OBX) this past year. Now he's apparently stepping up his game on surfing's biggest stage. Good to see guys from the Carolinas showing up big.
When things began to clean up in Kill Devil Hills over the weekend, a handful of the area's pros were on hand to show the rest of us how it's done when the swell jumps up. Jesse Hines, Noah Snyder and Jesse Fernandez just to name a few. We should see a lot more images and video of this swell all over the internet this week. I'll post links as I see them.
